November 13, 08 Meeting Minutes President Tim Verdick opened the meeting at 6:51, 8 members attending. Joe Ostrom gave the Treasurer’s report. He stated that two dinner gift certificates for the Cameron brothers had been purchased at the Cedar Creek Restaurant and had been given to Tim Verdick for delivery. Joe also reminded everyone that next year’s club dues were due and that he had a fresh stock of blank 2009 membership cards thanks to the efforts of Bob Smith. Old Business The nomination of next year’s club officers was discussed. There was only one position, Safety Officer, which had not been filled. Charles Price volunteered to fill the position of Safety Officer. Voting will take place at the December meeting. New Business Joe Ostrom stated that this year’s club Christmas party will take place on December 11, 2008, at the Paradise Restaurant on North Sequim Avenue starting at 6:00 PM. Tim Verdick, owner of RC Hobbies, presented a motion to have the club buy a $150 gift certificate to be awarded to a lucky club member at the Christmas dinner. This motion was seconded and passed. A raffle type ticket would be handed out to each member at the beginning of the evening and a drawing would take place during the program. Meeting adjourned by Tim at 7:28 PM Steve Moran flew his small electric helicopter before everyone departed. Submitted by Joe Ostrom. THANKS JOE!! LOOKING FOR BALSA WOOD? Recently I learned that Lone Star Balsa is no longer, seems they had a devastating fire last year and are no longer in business. Superior was another supplier, they were bought out, moved to New Mexico and then went out of business. Two of the major suppliers gone! I did an internet search and found five current sources:
